The colours in the hedge from the sunlight was amazing

Such delicate flowers

There is now a charge to visit the Hot Houses although the garden is free

This fossilized tree was fantastic

The squirrels were very tame

Andy Goldworthy's Slate Hole Wall

Cramond Island

Crammond Island near Edinburgh
It is only possible to walk to the island when the tide is out. It's almost a mile

The steps are a bit tricky

These concrete teeth along the causeway were to prevent submarines getting past. There were nets on the other side of the island to stop them

The bird life was busy. There are quite a lot of photo's of them. Sorry you might get bored

Black Headed Gulls with winter plumage

A noisy Oyster Catcher. We saw quite a few empty Oyster Shells.

Barnbougle Castle

 Grey Heron

Redshank

A few photo's of a Curlew

There are buildings still on the island from when it was used to defend the Forth

The island was bigger than I expected

The Forth Bridges

Arthurs Seat and Edinburgh Castle in the distance

Looking towards Fife

Inchmickery, looking like a Battle ship. The island was used in the Ian Banks film, Complicity
