Sleepyhillock, Montrose Basin

A trip up North took us to Montrose Basin. We were encouraged to see the geese coming in for the evening.

We couldn't find the walk the ranger had suggested but we managed to park at Sleepyhillock and headed for the beach

We could hear the geese on the mudflat. We knew they were there but it was hard to see them

Yes... here they are

As we watched more and more flew in.  They started to tumble mid air allowing them to rapidly loose height. It was unbelievable the number of geese in one place. We were told there could be 50.000..........

I found I had a twin on the beach........

I was sad to see a lot of broken glass and crockery along the beach.

A train went past and disturbed the birds.

The view was great through the telescope. They were Pinkfooted Geese

As we watched, more and more flew in

This is where we parked
