Plock of Kyle

What a great name and what a surprise find. A wee gem. Looking out the window from the cottage we could see a flagpole on a hill above Kyle of Lochalsh. A check with the map and the internet and we had a name and information. So after a quick flurry of snow we set off in the sunshine (and the Discovery as I still feel a bit weak from my cold which hasn't lifted). You drive up the main street and take the road for the golf course. Then follow it up to the top. The car park is almost at the very top so a hop and a step and we had views to die for. There are a lot of terraced picnic areas so one ot come back to in the summer. They are fighting a loosing battle with the broom though and it needs a major clean up now. But the views.....

Here you can see the harbour and castle at Kyleakin from the Plock and the size of the hills of Skye behind.

you can see how the area is being taken over and this was a good bit. There is one seat with a great view except for the giant gorse bush 3 feet in front of it hiding everything.

The other side of the Plock of Kyle was a different hidden world. We walked across and found these wonderful inlets.

on the way back we watched the sunset at Kyle and Pete took this photo of me taking a photo.
